JORDAN JONES – LB

Q: Tell us about your college (or pro) career and what the recruiting/scouting process was like. Why did you choose UWA?

A: I had a successful career at UWA. I worked myself into a starting position my red-shirt freshman year until a season ending injury. In my 2018 junior season, I was 1st Team All-Conference Defense and 2nd Team All-Super Region 2 Defense. In my 2019 senior season, I was 2nd in GSC with 4.5 sacks and 14.5 TFL, I was preseason All-Conference Defense, and selected to 2nd Team All-Conference Defense. I ended my UWA career with a total of 211 tackles (112 solo, 99 assists), 14 QBH, 5 FF, 3 FR, 2 Pass BU, 1 blocked kick, 1 interception, and 1 PR for 20 yards. I finished 7th all-time in GSC history with 43 tackles for loss of 192 yards. I chose UWA because I felt this school was the best fit for me after high school. In talking with the coaches during my recruitment, they offered the best opportunity for me to enhance my skills.

Q: What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far?

A: My biggest accomplishment was helping my team win the 2017 GSC championship.

Q: What do you consider to be one of the more important things you learned from the coaching staff while playing at UWA?

A: The most important thing I learned is that the little things matter.

Q: How was your career impacted due to the 2020 pandemic and what have you learned from the adversity?

A: My Pro Day scheduled at the University of Alabama was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. I learned that no matter the adversity, I must stay focused on accomplishing my goals and that everything happens for a reason.

Q: What was your major and what are your plans if football doesn’t work out?

A: My major was Integrated Marketing Communications with a focus on Sports Broadcasting. I plan to be a Sports Analyst if my professional football career does not happen or after my professional football career.

Q: What would your current/past teammates say about you and your qualities?

A: My teammates would say that I am a vocal leader and that I lead by example.

Q: What has been one of the most memorable plays of your career at any level?

A: One of my most memorable plays was a strip sack against Florida Tech in the 2019 season that led to the game winning touchdown.

Q: What has been your biggest challenge and how do you manage it?

A: The biggest challenge has been being under-rated and over-looked in my football career, even when my stats were among the best.

Q: If you could compare yourself to a pro athlete, who would that be and why?

A: I compare myself to no one because I am one of a kind.

Q: What is your biggest strength that you bring to a professional team and why should pro scouts consider you?

A: My greatest strengths are my dedication as a student of the game and being coachable. I will give my best in my role in helping to achieve team success.

Q: Are you involved in mentoring, a charity or do you “give back” or ”pay it forward” in your community?

A: I’m involved in helping high school athletes develop their football skills in preparation for Junior College tryouts.

Q: How are you preparing for the 2021 National Scouting Combine and what are your goals?

A: I currently train everyday with a personal trainer and I eat healthy to keep my body in top physical condition. My goals for the Combine are to showcase my skills to professional scouts and demonstrate what I can bring to a team.

Q: What would be your ultimate achievement?

A: My ultimate achievement is to be selected to a NFL 53-man roster.

Q: What do you enjoy doing when not playing football?

A: I enjoy hanging out with my friends and playing video games.

Q: If you could make a positive impact on all of society what would it be and why?

A: I would spend my efforts on addressing poverty in our society. If more people could be lifted out of poverty, the stronger our nation would be due to individual success. Having a higher number of individuals achieving economic success, leads to our society being more successful.

Q: Who is or has been the most influential person in your life?

A: My mother has been the most influential person in my life.

Q: What is something unique about you that people would find interesting?

A: Something unique about me is my natural red hair. I often get asked how often I dye my hair.

Q: What is your dream job?

A: My dream job is to become a NFL player.
