Q:  Tell us about your high school career and what the recruiting process has been like thus far. 

A:  My 6A high school career has been really positive. The team and coaches are dedicated to each other and committed to putting in the work. Our motto is “Leave No Doubt.” This past year I was starting QB and a Captain of the JV squad and helped lead the team to an undefeated season. I also earned playing time on Varsity as a back-up QB to a senior. The recruiting process is different than what I expected due to the pandemic. I can’t attend camps the way that I wanted to. I have had to dedicate more time to putting together videos and reaching out to coaches.

 

Q:  When did you receive your first offer and what school was it from? How many offers have you received thus far? 

A:  I have not received an offer yet. As a rising Junior I keep working every day and hope I’ll get my first offer soon.

 

Q:  What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far?

A:  As of right now, my biggest accomplishment is our undefeated JV season last year. 

 

Q:  What do you consider to be one of the more important things you learned from the coaching staff while playing at your school?

A: One of the most important things I’ve learned from my coaching staff is that football is a team sport, and you have to trust your teammates on the field.

 

Q:  What have you learned during this unique time in 2020? What did you focus on or accomplish during Quarantine?

A:  I’ve learned that unexpected things happen and I need to think about the things that I can control. I’ve been focusing on getting bigger, faster, and stronger in the weightroom.

 

Q:  If you could play in college, what would you choose to major in? What are your plans if football doesn’t work out?

A:  My major in college will most likely be business. If football doesn’t work out, I would continue to pursue my plans for higher education.

 

Q:  What would your current teammates say about you and your qualities?

A:  My teammates would say I’m determined and dedicated to be my best self and achieve my goals no matter the sacrifice. I set goals and I push my teammates to do the same. They would say I lead by example.

 

Q:  What has been one of the most memorable plays of your career so far?

A:  One of the most memorable plays of my career was when I rolled out to the left and threw a post corner on the run for a 30-yard gain to start the game off strong against our rival. It set the right energy for the team. And we won.

 

Q: What has been your biggest challenge and how do you manage it?

A:  My biggest challenge today is not knowing the status of our football season. Two of my goals are to win a state championship and play in college. This is a big year for my school and with a lot of returning starters, we have a lot of positive momentum to carry us into the new season. I try to be with my teammates as much as I can and keep us tight.

 

Q: If you could compare yourself to a collegiate or pro athlete, who would that be and why?

A: I would most likely compare myself to Tua Tagovailoa because he isn’t the tallest quarterback but he has good footwork and pocket presence and knows when to scramble. He also has pinpoint accuracy and is a lefty like me.

 

Q: What is your biggest strength and why should college coaches & scouts consider you?

A:  Football IQ and reading the defense has become my strength with hours of studying. I have a good sense of when to stay in the pocket or roll out to hit my receivers with improved foot speed combined with general strength. I want to continue to learn and grow with a college team and be my best.

 

Q: Are you involved in mentoring, a charity or do you “give back”/”pay it forward” in your community?

A:  Yes, I am involved with Young Men’s Service League, where moms and sons lead and volunteer in our local communities. We are focused on helping others in need. I am also involved with a local non-profit called “Count Down to None” which raises money for support and a cure for Type One Diabetes.

 

Q: How are you preparing for the 2020 High School National Scouting Combine and what are your goals for the combine?

A: I’ve been going to early morning workouts with my team, along with my own speed drills and daily lifting.  My goal is to perform my best.

 

Q: What would be your ultimate achievement? 

A: My ultimate achievement would be to lead my high school to be state champions and earn a spot on a roster at a Division I football program.

 

Q: What do you enjoy doing when not playing football? Do you play other sports? 

A: I began running track in the spring. I have always been active in a number of sports growing up. I really liked playing rugby, lacrosse and basketball. I played baseball for about 10 years making it to several Little League State championships. 

 

Q: Who is or has been the most influential person in your life? 

A: My parents have been the most influential people in my life because they are supportive and always want what is best for me.

 

Q: What is something unique about you that people would find interesting?

 A: I enjoy cooking!

Pursuing a career in professional football from a small school is a lonely path. A prospect may have the support of his peers, family, and teammates, but the process can be overwhelming and very confusing. Often times small school prospects don’t have access to the resources provided to prospects at football powerhouses. “How can I get myself in front of scouts? How can I prove to them that I can play at the next level?” These are only a few of the many questions that race through a potential prospects mind on a daily basis. The Beyond Sports Network National Combine helped simplify this process for many of the players that attended, including myself. Despite the combine being held for a few days, the information and services provided by the combine, as well as the sense of community between the staff members and prospects stood out to me. Every test that would be performed at the NFL combine was covered, every coach and staff member supported each prospect to an unbelievable extent, and the amount of scouts and agents in attendance and how interactive they were was impressive. The Beyond Sports Network National Scouting Combine was a critical step in attempting to take my talents to the next level. If you are a small school prospect with no clear path to the next level, the National Scouting Combine will certainly clear up the path for you.

BSN gave me the platform I needed to be respected as a athlete. I came to there first Combine in 2010. I was pulled by every NFL, CFL scout. At that time there were a couple really good WRs including a SEC top WR who NFL scouts were coming to see. Once I put up good #s in my Testing Drills, we did one on ones. I showed my great covering skills to the point all the scouts herd the WRs talking and asking who was this guy. Then BSN promoted me and my numbers and I received workouts on all levels. I became a name in the business. Having legit numbers and respectable organization backing you is what you need. Everyone can say they can play and perform but coaches and scouts don’t believe you. BSN gives you the stage to perform and prove them wrong and get the opportunity you deserve. Because of BSN I was able to create a long professional career and when needed comeback to prove I could still play at a high level.
