AFL | Bill Atkins | CFL | D2 | DB | Defensive Back | Division 2 | football | Kiondre Thomas | Minnesota Duluth | National Scouting Combine | NCAA | NFL | Small School | XFL
DB Bill Atkins – Minnesota Duluth: Hasn’t played actual organized football since he graduated in 2019, but he continually shows up and has the athleticism to play, warrants a look. Film from college showed he’s aggressive as a down-hill player and gains ground quickly w/his speed. Played at a high-level, but question I had with him was if he was going to be able to play under control and show that he could be fluid w/his breaks/cutting. When you compare him to 2021 NFL Draft Prospect Kiondre Thomas from Kansas State and the Pro Day that he had, Atkins did better.

2021 National Scouting Combine Results
My biggest challenge has been coming from a D2 school and not being properly advertised or prepared for playing at the next level.
One of the most important things that I learned from one of my DB coaches was process over product. Meaning that even if the product is what you want it to be, if the process you used to achieve that product isn’t efficient, it becomes meaningless. For example, if I were to make a tackle in a game but before that tackle I got a bad read and took some false steps and the ball carrier got an extra few yards, that tackle has little meaning and won’t help me in the future because of my inefficiency.

DB Dionte Ruffin – Western Kentucky: 2021 NFL Draft Prospect and started all 12 games at Western Kentucky this past season. Consistent player who shows he’s someone that can be relied upon. Shows quick feet and a good burst, but has to show he can transition...
DB Yasir Thomas – Lafayette: In the box player that likes to be physical, isn’t afraid of contact. Downhill attacking style. Question was his range, showed a strong burst, but covering long distances quickly needed improvement. Also needed to prove that he could flip...
