Q: Tell us about your sports career and what the recruiting/scouting process was like?

A: In my best efforts to play football after high school I made a highlight tape and em iled it to as many community colleges as I could. A while later former assistant coach Gamboa from Pasadena City College contacted me asking if I would like to play football for them. After I had a successful season at Pasadena City College my recruiting experience was much different. I got to talk to coaches from Dickinson State University, Benedictine College, and a few others. Both Benedictine College and Dickinson State University wanted to offer me a scholarship, but my GPA was too low. I failed in the classroom.

Q: Did you play in college and if so, who did you play for? What was your experience like?

A: I played JUCO football at Pasadena City College. I had a great time developing my skills as a football player while at Pasadena. I spent the first 2 years competing in the weight room and on the field trying to earn my starting position. I’m very proud of the progress I made while I was in Pasadena.

Q: What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far?

A: My biggest accomplishment so far is being selected for first team all- conference as a defensive tackle.

Q: What do you consider to be one of the more important things you learned from your coach(es)

A: The most important thing I’ve learned from my coaches is to have patience and be consistent.

Q: What would your current/past teammates say about you and your qualities?

A: I think most of my past teammates would say I’m a laid back and up beat guy. I like to think they would say I’m a very positive and energetic teammate that’s there when you need him.

Q: What has been one of the most memorable plays of your career at any level?

A: One play I’ll always remember is my first and only interception in high school against our rival school. It was a screen play and I had turned back to chase the screen, before I knew it I had the ball in my hands for an interception. It’s one of those plays that made me fall in love with football.

Q: What has been your biggest challenge and how do you manage it?

A: My biggest challenge as of late has been staying consistent and doing my best to train hard. I was a factory worker and recently became a line cook at a restaurant. When I’m not at work I’m either training or with my family. Sometimes it gets draining physically and mentally, but I’ve been doing my best to persevere.

Q: Who was the best player you played against anytime during your career?

A: Demarcus Gilmore is the best offensive lineman I’ve ever gotten to play against. After playing at Pasadena he got a scholarship to play football at Towson University.

Q: If you could compare yourself to any pro athlete, who would that be and why?

A: I would compare myself to Pat Tillman or John Randle. I feel that I have the same energy, work ethic, and drive as those guys. Undersized with unmatched heart.

Q: What is your biggest strength that you bring to a professional team and why should pro scouts consider you?

A: The biggest strength I bring to a team is my competitiveness and positive energy. I’m a work horse and always give my best effort, I think teams will value this.

Q: Are you involved in mentoring, a charity or do you “give back” or ”pay it forward” in your community?

A: I’m not involved with any charity in my community, but I do my best to help who and where I can. I enjoy being able to help people around the community.

Q: What do you enjoy doing when not playing football?

A: When I’m not playing football or training I enjoy spending time with my family. I also like to draw and I’m a big boxing fan. My oldest brother also recently got me into fishing.

Q: If you could make a positive impact on all of society what would it be and why?

A: I would want to inspire people to not give up on their goals and work hard for what they want. I would love to be able to help rebuild/remodel schools and playgrounds in different communities. Along with that I would try to build recreational facilities for sports and for the arts. I believe it’s important to invest in positive environments for the community, especially for the youth.

Q: Who is or has been the most influential person in your life?

A: My father has always been my hero and has had the biggest impact on my life. I’m constantly learning things from him, I have him to thank for my work ethic and character.

Q: What is something unique about you that people would find interesting?

A: My siblings and I are the first generation to be born in the States. Also my great grandfather was actually born in Texas when it was still part of Mexico.

Q: If you had the opportunity to play another sport professionally, what sport would you choose?

A: I would play professional baseball if I couldn’t play professional football. Baseball was my first sport and so much fun to me.

Q: What is your dream job?

A: My dream job is to play professional football then to be an assistant coach.
