2023 National Scouting Combine Featured Athlete Jakari Robinson, OL from Bowling Green

How’d you end up at your current school? What was the recruiting process like?
My recruitment was pretty nice. I was known as one of the top high school centers in the state of Alabama in the class of 2017.  My height was the only thing that kept me out of the SEC. I ended up committing to the University of Cincinnatti. After playing there, i transferred to Memphis for one season before finishing my final year at Bowling Green.

What gives you an advantage over other athletes at the OL Position?
My athleticism is one thing that gives me an advantage. I am very good at pulling and blocking in open field. My aggressiveness also gives me an advantage, I am known for finishing blocks. Last but not least, my experience gives me a giant advantage. I have played in 46 career games and started 32 of those games. I was part of a class that turned Cincinnatti into what it is now so i am use to playing in big games. My favorite memory was my last game as a bearcat in 2020 in the Peach Bowl vs Georgia. I had a chance to square off with Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.

What does being a student of a game mean to you?
Being a student of the game means doing everything that you need to do consistently. I feel that being a student of the game is dedicating yourself to perfecting your craft regardless of the circumstances. This comes from doing all the little things such as being on time and prepared for everything for example.

How would you describe your work ethic?
I would describe my work ethic as very strong. Things have never been easy for me being considered a undersized offensive lineman. I had to earn everything. My work ethic is what is going to set me aside from a lot of offensive lineman in my class. I work hard and it translates to the field.

What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far?
The biggest accomplishments for me was being named PFF First Team All-MAC center for this season. I have also been on the Rimington trophy watchlist twice which is a trophy that is given to the best center in the nation. I have blocked and led the way for a lot of current NFL player such as Desmond Ridder (Falcons QB), Jerome Ford( Browns RB/KR), Alec Pierce (Colts WR), and Gerrid Doaks (Texans RB).

How did you hear about the National Scouting Combine?
I heard about the National Scouting Combine once i was invited. I did my research on it and I was very surprised that i didn’t already know about it. i am very excited for this opportunity.

What do you hope to show people at the combine?
I hope to show people that I am one of the most underrated players in this draft class. Me transferring to different schools made a lot of people forgot how elite of a player i really am. I do feel that I will be a diamond in the rough for any teams that picks me up.

Who is or has been the most influential person in your life?
The person that is most influential in my life is my Grandad. My dad wasn’t in my life and my grandad did a great job of mentoring me. He passed away towards the end of December so things have been hard for me and my family, I am more motivated than ever to chase my dreams because he always wanted to see me play in the NFL.

Are you involved in mentoring, a charity or do you “give back” or ”pay it forward” in your community?
I have done a lot of charity work over my career. I always give back to my community. Every time i come home, i talk and go to the youth’s practices and workouts. A lot of kids look up to me back home so i make sure to show up for them.
