2023 National Scouting Combine Featured Athlete Nnamdi Banks-Eke, OL from Texas College

How’d you end up at your current school? What was the recruiting process like? I ended up at my current school due to me searching for a place to call home. Thanks to Twitter I was able to contact coaches and get my recruiting process started. The rest was history.

What gives you an advantage over other athletes at (rename this to your position)? What gives me an advantage over other athletes at center is my intelligence. I had a 4.0 this last spring semester and I really pay attention to detail. As a center you have to be the QB of the OL. Not too many want that responsibility but I take it head on. Making calls and adjustments not just for myself, but for everyone and to gain their trust is a key concept to having a great OL.

What does being a student of a game mean to you? Being a student of the game to me means constantly wanting to learn this game. Watching hours upon hours of film. Wanting to be great and asking coaches for information constantly. Consistency in wanting to be the best.

How does being an offensive lineman reflect itself in your personal life? Being a center is in a lot of ways a direct reflection of my life. I am the oldest of 3 children so they have been looking up to me my entire life. I have to give direction and leadership as on the field with my 4 guys to my right and left. I am in the center of it all. I have to direct my siblings and teammates the right way. Any wrong decision or choice by me affects everyone.

How would you describe your work ethic? My work ethic is blue collar hard nosed. Other people have given my work ethic praise and it has provided motivation to others. I know what I want I have to earn and get, so the only way I know is to grind and work hard for it.

What do you consider to be one of the more important things you learned from the coaching staff? One of the most important things that I have learned from my coaching staff was how to lead during difficult times and to never quit. It is easy to lead when things are going good, but can you do the same in heat? I’ve become a better person and leader and teammate because of my coaches.

What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far? My biggest accomplishment in my football career up this point would have to be being named all conference this past season. There are a lot of ballers in my conference so to be considered one of the best really means a lot. I made a difference for my team and it was noticed by the voting committee.

How did you hear about the National Scouting Combine? I heard about the National Scouting Combine through one of my friends who recently did it. He had nothing bad to say and he recommended I do it if I ever got invited and here we are.

Why did you choose the National Scouting Combine? I chose the National Scouting Combine because I was fortunate enough to be looked at to be sent an invite. I don’t take that for granted so it was a no brainer.

What do you hope to show people at the combine? I hope to show people at the combine that even though I won’t be running a 4.3 40 yard dash, I can still move for a big guy. To show that I am flexible and that I have football smarts. Most importantly when the pads go on the dog in me comes out.

What was your Major? My major was Business Administration.

Who is or has been the most influential person in your life? Making it out and setting up my family for life has been the most influential in my life. More importantly I have self motivation to make it to the professional level because I want to be one of the best if not THE best.

If you could make a positive impact on all of society what would it be and why? There are so many ways to answer this because I believe it is my purpose to give back and make the world a better place with the platform of being a professional athlete. To choose one example would be helping eliminate the homelessness rate and create more housing for the homeless.

What is something unique about you that people would find interesting? Something unique about me that people could find interesting is the fact that I like to write/type. I am always the one people come to at school to write their essays. I have never gotten below a B for others’ essays so I must have a knack for it.
