2023 National Scouting Combine Featured Athlete Paul Garrett, RB from Greenville University

How’d you end up at your current school? Coming out of high I didn’t receive any offers at all. I was registered on recruiting app named NCSA. Coach Tyrell saw me on there and he contacted me through that website and it went from there. What was the recruiting process like? The process was very new to me from the beginning. Coach Tyrell showed me and my family gratitude and respect throughout the whole journey from the first message being sent to me arriving on campus. He stayed in contact with me and I’m glad I got the chance to be apart of the Greenville football program and further.

What gives you an advantage over other athletes at (rename this to your position)? I am a receiving back who can be a three down back. My first step to reach maxium speed is a advatgage I have when breaking to the 2nd and 3rd level.

What do you consider to be one of the more important things you learned from the coaching staff? The most important things I learned from my coaching staff here at Greenville was not to blame, complain, or defend. Blaming others will not improve the situation at all, complaining about it wont solve anything either, and trying to defend yourself is not going to help the situation go in a positive direction either. The next important thing is to put other yourself. Everything isn’t always about you in the circumstance and putting others first is good.

What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far?

D3 All- American 2x OPOY

4x 1st Team All- Conference 2x 1st Team Punt Returner 1x NCCAA POTY

3x NCCAA 1st Team 1x NCCAA 2nd Team

How did you hear about the National Scouting Combine? Sometime after the season, I got a DM from one of the scouts for the combine and went started conversating about what the combine provides and things in that area.

Why did you choose the National Scouting Combine? Me and my parents thought this will be a good way for me to showcase my skills to people that need to see. It gives me an opportunity to see different things and get an idea of how a combine is in real life. Also just getting to see where I am officially with my results in the test we will be doing.

What do you hope to show people at the combine? I hope I get to show everybody at the combine is that I am a guy who can makes plays all over the field including the back field, slot, out wide, or a returner. Also just putting my route running skills out there because my primary position is RB.

What was your Major? Sports Management / Coaching Minor

What is something unique about you that people would find interesting? I have a twin brother who plays college football with me. When I tell people that they don’t believe me but thats something interesting.
