AF1 CEO Jerry Kurz to Attend the 2026 National Scouting Combine in Naples, Florida
The Arena Football One (AF1) will once again be well represented at the National Scouting Combine, as AF1 CEO Jerry Kurz is set to attend the 2026 event alongside AF1 Director of Player Personnel Gary Compton and a strong contingent of AF1 coaches and front-office personnel.
The 2026 National Scouting Combine will take place January 6–9 at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples, continuing its tradition as one of the premier evaluation platforms for professional football leagues across the country.
A Vision Rooted in Community and the Game
Since its inception, AF1 has been guided by a mission that extends well beyond the field of play. Kurz says the league was built with communities at the center of its vision.
“The desire was to provide an opportunity for towns and communities across the country to bring our great sport to their fans,” Kurz said. “I’ve always been aware of our original mission statement and what it represents.”
That mission continues to define AF1’s identity today.
“To serve our community with pride and passion as a quality example of individual and team excellence—on the field, in the office, at the arena, and within the community—by consistently exceeding expectations,” Kurz added. “Character, appreciation, and respect for the game are central to who we are.”
Why the National Scouting Combine Matters to AF1
For Kurz and AF1 leadership, the National Scouting Combine plays a vital role in identifying and evaluating professional-ready talent.
“The National Scouting Combine is a key connection to top athletes who want to showcase their talent and continue their playing careers,” Kurz said. “NSC has a proven track record with athletes, coaches, and professional leagues, which makes them an invaluable partner.”
That credibility has helped position the NSC as a trusted pipeline for players pursuing legitimate professional opportunities.
What AF1 Teams Look for in Players
While talent is essential, AF1 teams evaluate far more than athletic performance alone.
“Like any true professional league, we look for on-field talent, but just as important is character,” Kurz explained. “We want players who desire to become part of our communities, both on and off the field.”
AF1’s philosophy is rooted in building strong organizations, not just rosters.
“We desire more than an athlete,” Kurz said. “We want good, contributing people.”
Opportunity on a National Stage
For athletes attending the National Scouting Combine, AF1 provides a national platform to showcase their abilities and continue developing as professionals.
“AF1 offers players opportunities to showcase their talents and their ability to be contributing teammates on a national level,” Kurz said. “Our league operates coast to coast and across multiple broadcast and media outlets.”
Those opportunities are designed to support long-term growth.
“We give players the chance to further develop, grow, and extend their professional playing careers while competing at the top level of arena football,” Kurz added.
A Strong, Official Partnership Moving Forward
With Jerry Kurz, Gary Compton, and a full contingent of AF1 coaches and front-office personnel in attendance, the 2026 National Scouting Combine further strengthens the collaborative relationship between the two organizations.
“This partnership with Arena Football One reflects exactly what the National Scouting Combine is about—bringing legitimate professional opportunities directly to our athletes,” said Jimmy Kibble, Founder and CEO of the National Scouting Combine. “Having league leadership and decision-makers like Jerry Kurz, Gary Compton, and AF1 coaches on site creates real pathways for players and reinforces the credibility of the evaluation process.”
The National Scouting Combine is proud to serve as the Official Scouting and Combine Partner of Arena Football One, continuing a shared commitment to identifying talent, creating opportunity, and supporting athletes as they take the next step in their professional football journeys.
