Feature Interview: Michael Davis

“No matter what I have gone through I have always kept a smile on my face.”

During our conversations, a few main things about Michael Davis were very clear to me. Michael Davis is a hard-working, determined and God-fearing man. He is all about family and the team, and enjoys going out of his way to help others. Davis also has a true love and passion for the game of football and has the talent, dedication and unselfish mindset needed to succeed on a professional football team.

Michael Davis has had quite the unique college football experience. Davis took snaps at Middle and Outside Linebacker at Delaware State and had a couple very solid seasons overall. One season included matchups with the two National Championship teams, Towson and North Dakota State. Davis shined under the bright lights against North Dakota State, tallying 9 tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss. Davis tends to be at his best against the best, as he made his first career tackle in a game against Cincinnati, who won their conference that season. Davis also stood out against Temple in their conference-winning season. “The overall college football experience was great. Even though we played in the FCS, we played against FBS and FCS teams.” Overall, playing for Delaware State gave Davis many opportunities that he is very grateful for. He got to play at Lincoln Financial Field and made connections with great athletes and great people. He still keeps in touch with these players today, some of whom are now in the AFL and NFL.

Davis has been putting in some serious work over the last few months. He has been doing two-a-day workouts three times a week, with one workout on the other days. These workouts typically consist of lifting around 4:30 am every morning, position and combine drills on two-a-days, and even occasional portions of yoga to maintain flexibility and durability. Davis has a true love of the game, instilled by his father who passed when he was just 3 years old. His father played at Tuskegee and inspired Davis and his brothers to play football. This is a large reason as to why Davis pushes himself to be the absolute best he can be. His number one goal in football is to make an NFL roster and contribute to winning a Super Bowl. He would also, then, use his platform to make a difference and help others in need. He is also an Electrical Engineer and strives to be the best person he can be.

There are a few things about Michael Davis that should stand out. The first is his character. Unlike many athletes, Davis has an uncanny ability to keep a smile on his face no matter the situation. His composure is excellent and overall has great character. Second are his instincts. He has the instincts needed to make big plays in big games which, as the saying goes, makes great players great. Finally, Davis has an excellent career planned out for his time after football/during the offseason. As I said before, he is currently an Electrical Engineer. He also has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics and a Master’s degree in Applied Optics. Overall, Michael Davis has impressed me since the beginning of our conversations. I cannot speak enough to his intellect, character and personality. We have had great conversations and he has great social skills. I believe he is a truly unique athlete and would be hugely beneficial to any professional team both on and off the field.
