Najee Richards | Stone Bridge HS | RB/WR | 2021

Q: Tell us about your high school career and what the recruiting process has been like thus far.

A: My high school career has been fun so far I started my high school career at Fairfax high school, where I had just moved to VA from Brooklyn. My sophomore year I started Rb for varsity and had a pretty decent season. I was the youngest on the varsity team but that just made me push and work harder. I made a name for myself and even received an honorable mention at the end of the season.

For my junior year my family moved to a different part of Virginia, and I started playing with an amazing coach and a team who all have the same motivating, talent and drive like I do. So, coming on a team like this has been a dream come true.

The recruiting process has been slow so far but after this senior season I will definitely have some offers.

Q: When did you receive your first offer and what school was it from? How many offers have you received thus far?

A: No offers as of yet. However, I do have some schools looking at me.

Q: What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far?

A: Getting to the state championship. Also being the youngest varsity player on the team and getting “Rookie of the Year.”

Q: What do you consider to be one of the more important things you learned from the coaching staff while playing at your school?

A: I have learned a lot of different things but the one that stuck with me the most is “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard”.

Q: What have you learned during this unique time in 2020? What did you focus on or accomplish during Quarantine?

A: I learned that tomorrow isn’t promised especially in 2020. I really focused on getting bigger, stronger, and faster during this whole quarantine.

Q: If you could play in college, what would you choose to major in? What are your plans if football doesn’t work out?

A: I would choose to major in Athletic training. If football doesn’t work out I want to still go to college and then eventually own my own business and have my own gym.

Q: What would your current teammates say about you and your qualities?

A: They would say that I might not be the biggest person on the field but I’m big at heart. I also think a lot of my teammates would say that I have a good personality as well.

Q: What has been one of the most memorable plays of your career so far?

A: My 80 yard KR.

Q: What has been your biggest challenge and how do you manage it?

A: I feel my biggest challenge is trying to put on weight so I just workout as much as a can and do other things that will help me perfect my craft. I also still try to eat as much as I can.

Q: If you could compare yourself to a collegiate or pro athlete, who would that be and why?

A: I don’t like comparing myself to other people, but I have heard that I run as hard as Adrian Peterson.

Q: What is your biggest strength and why should college coaches & scouts consider you?

A: My biggest strength is that I am really quick and fast. I am coachable and a team player

Q: Are you involved in mentoring, a charity or do you “give back”/”pay it forward” in your community?

A: Yes, I have helped mentor the kids that play for a little league team called the hammers not to far from where I live. And when I go back to Brooklyn during the summer, I do a big brother mentoring program for children in East New York.

Q: How are you preparing for the 2020 High School National Scouting Combine and what are your goals for the combine?

A: I have been working out and going to the field every day. I also have a personal trainer that I go to , he helps me work on different thing that are going to be at the scouting combine. My goals at the combine is to get looked at and do the best that I can.

Q: What would be your ultimate achievement?

A: My ultimate achievement short term would be to win a State Championship and get a scholarship for college. Long Term is to play football in college and later on for the NFL!

Q: What do you enjoy doing when not playing football? Do you play other sports?

A: When I’m not playing football, I’m sometimes playing my games or chilling with my friends. I would also say that I’m a pretty decent basketball player, I once scored 20 points on a broken foot.

Q: Who is or has been the most influential person in your life?

A: The most influential people in my life have been my parent and a lot of other people in my family. They always support my and believe in my dreams.

Q: What is something unique about you that people would find interesting?

A: Something unique about me is that I had a stroke when I was a baby. The doctors are amazed at my progress. My mom said a therapist told her I would not be able to dribble a ball and run at the same time. More less excel in football, swimming, and basketball. But my parents instilled in me if the mind believes it can achieve it, it can. I been playing football since I was four years old. It’s all I ever wanted to do!
