I began playing a football at the age of 13 as an escape from my living situation at the time. My coach recognized in me natural talent that I had no idea i had. He nicknamed me “Speedy” and told me if I worked hard, I would have had a future playing college football and beyond. My life changed that day. I started getting looks my sophomore year in high school by Division 1 colleges and for the first time, I felt I had purpose in my life. I went to Iowa Western Community College out of high school, and ultimately ended up at a college closer to home.
