How’d you end up at your current school? What was the recruiting process like?
- After the leaving the University of Alabama the recruiting process was dark for a while. Eventually Lock Haven pulled the trigger and brought me aboard right before fall camp began.
What gives you an advantage over other athletes at your position?
- I believe that my versatility and football IQ is much higher than most backs coming out in my class. I am able to split out wide and be a factor from the slot while also being able to stand strong in pass protection. I’m a hard nose runner than can also make you miss! I pride myself on being an every down back and I plan to continue that trend at the next level.
What does being a student of a game mean to you?
- Being a student of the game to me is someone who never believes they have hit their ceiling when it comes to the knowledge of the game. They are continuously looking to learn from the greats and those who play at a high level to fine tune their game.
How does being a Running Back reflect itself in your personal life?
- I’m always willing to do the small work to get to a big goal. As a back we may not always hit the home run but we can fall in love with 3-4 yard runs until something pops. I believe that’s how I live my life, I stick to a process regardless of the outcome in the moment knowing the reward is still to come. I just have to collect my small wins until the big opportunity presents itself, and I’ll be ready when it comes!
How would you describe your work ethic?
- Top notch! I’ve learned from the best at Alabama about what it takes everyday to be a pro! Although they taught me a lot, before arriving I had to push myself to new limits in my own workouts to prepare for my workout with the team! There has been off seasons where the regiment was 3x a day at least 4 days a week and once on the others. Sometimes it may seem like I’m overworking myself but in my mind each second of work is a second closer to my goals!
What do you consider to be one of the more important things you learned from the coaching staff?
– This is a business and we are all replaceable. To be a pro you must be a pro everyday and never slack.
What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far?
- Making the 2023 university of Alabama team after transferring from Carson-Newman University. Making the jump from the D2 to SEC is almost unheard of and I believe I did it at the hardest time to make a team. In the day of NIL there’s nobody in these big time buildings for no reason. To play at that level shows regardless of the situation I can ball and that I thrive as the competition gets better.
How did you hear about the National Scouting Combine?
– I’ve known about the National Scouting Combine since high school. I remember seeing guys come out of college and getting to showcase their talents in which many received opportunities at the next level.
Why did you choose the National Scouting Combine?
- I believe this is the best opportunity to showcase my talents amongst all leagues at once. The format was very intriguing and a bonus for me as the combine and all star game are held within one event.
What do you hope to show people at the combine?
- I’ll be showing that I am the prototype for the NFL running back of today! I hope to showcase my speed! Not just 40 speed but game speed! I believe that I can play just as fast as any back in the country and that will be on full display. I also plan on showing my versatility by running routes and showing off my agility through drills and field work.
What was your Major? (Delete if you do not have a collegiate background)
- Business Management/ MBA
If you could make a positive impact on all of societywhat would it be and why?
- I want to motivate others to defy the odds and treat others right on the way up! People where I’m from don’t make it away often! I’m one of few collegiate athletes to finish their college career and one of even fewer to climb to the professional ranks. I want to be the first from my area to go pro and hopefully create a standard for those coming up behind me. Mostly I want to inspire others to shoot for their goals and not get stumped when diversity strikes.
What is something unique about you that people would find interesting?
- I have 5 names technically but my first name has a space in it(Mister Malcolm, Rufus, Love, Hogue)
If you had the opportunity to play another sport professionally, what sport would you choose?
- Baseball
Are you involved in mentoring, a charity or do you “give back” or “pay it forward” in your community?
- I often go back and work with my high school (Oakman Highs school) helping develop foot speed and just talk to the kids and give inspiring words!
