About Justin

1. What was the most important thing you learned during your career?
The most important thing I learned in my career was to have composure. I found that keeping calm and confident in my abilities as well as my teammates led to better results. It was always nice to celebrate or a field goal or Pat it was equally important to not point fingers or blame teammates when it did not go well.

2. What qualities do you possess that makes you a candidate for a professional contract?
I have respect for others, determination and confidence in my abilities and limits. I work well with my teammates and coaches. I respect authority around me welcome input from my coaches and teammates. I am determined to give and become my best, I am driven to continue improving no matter the outcome I strive to improve or learn more and do more. Although football is very important to me, Our championship game in 2013 included a visit to a local elementary school and we were given the opportunity to interact including reading to some of the students and answer many questions they had about me and it was truly a memory that will last a lifetime.

3. What motivates you on and off the field?
My family, friends, faith and my results motivate me. My family and friends encourage me to grow stronger and have supported me through the years. I strive to be the best in everthing I do on or off the field and have a strong desire to be better each day. Most importantly, my faith that in God I know that all things are possible and you have to always believe and trust in him

4. What was your major and why did you choose to study that field?
My major is finance at LR. I chose this major because I have found that I have always been strong in math and I wanted to study where I could use that strength with a career that could help others with their finances because money not managed or organized carries great stress.

5. What is your routine like as you pursue a professional opportunity?
My routine is a daily venture to heighten my skills and hold my character to its upmost potential. A professional opportunity is a once and a life time experience and my routine of being of good character in my classes to jobs I have held, and to practice my workout routines each day with a program that I have created for myself and hold my self accountable to it. This will help with my goal, my desires and to achieve it.

6.What is or are some challenges you faced in your career and how did you overcome them?
I faced some adversity and change during my transferring of colleges in my first 3 years out of high school. I found that the people and environment changed but I focused on what I do and who I am to get me through. I am a kicker, I kept my attention on that skill, my personal beliefs and character as I went through the challenges and then the rest fell into place.

7. What or who is your inspiration. How did you come to that conclusion?
My inspiration in an athlete is John Kasey. It is very stereotype in choosing a kicker but I paid attention to the aspects of his career even from a young age. He was consistent in form and with his job. He exemplifies a strong career, and despite missing a kick on occasion he didn’t change in his desire for consistency except for a jersey color change.

8.What are some of the contributions you made to your previous program? What about the local community?
Contributions I have left behind at my previous program are a lasting impression and confidence instilled in the remaining specialists that are my teammates. I wanted to leave the program with everyone I worked with feeling like they can do it too, that mistakes are nothing more that places to improve upon. In my local community I have held good citizenship, I helped at our local recreations with indoor soccer teams, I have worked with other high school and college kickers to help them with their skills, and I gave 100% of my time, dedication to an internship over the summer with the YMCA and did the job at hand they gave me to do as I learned business techniques in the industry and kept good relationships with them on a profession level with their endeavors of the task of the work force with the YMCA and they and I will always remember.

9.What is your best asset as an athlete and why will it make you successful at the next level?
My best asset is never ending hunger and a feeling of not being satisfied with a moment at the end of the day that there is not a need to be stronger, better, and to strive to work towards more each day I practice or play in a game. This is not to say that the sweetness of a victory or personal goal is not enjoyed because it is and I do enjoy. But I strive to feel and feed that hunger while the passion is in my heart. I am impressed with results that I have gained from my work outs routine it is something that gives me goals to reach when I am in between seasons and to remember not to be just good enough, but to be the best that I can be.

10. What are your plans for a post football career?
My post football career at this time is to settle down in the western North Carolina Mountains. I have always enjoyed the beauty and peacefulness of them when I have visited the area. I will take my finance degree and use it for a job in banking or advising agency. I would also like to help at an area high school with the kickers to help teach them or guide them in their skills to reach their personal goals and that maybe something I have done along the way will inspire them to achieve their dreams also.

11. What is your fondest memory playing football?
My fondest memories has been the interaction with the specialist group at LR though my years of being apart of the LR football program. We built chemistry on and off the field and shared it with the team as a whole. We strived to be our best and make every moment enjoyable. I have had many great game moments with great kicks I can begin with my 8th grade tryouts when I was a soccer player and I was sent to football practice to try out for the kicker spot and I kicked a 40 yard field goal and they dressed me out the next day for for my first game. Then I recall my first FG in high school as a freshman playing varsity in a rival game and made a 33 yard FG. Also, my junior year when I was named player of the game by a local radio station. Getting to do an onside kick my senior year along with senior night is always an unforgettable feeling. I look back at those high school KO that landed in the end zone the extra points and FG as I moved forward to college when I was given an chance in our National Championship game to do a KO for a TB and I kicked it 80 yards and was highlighted on ESPN that year to name a few. I was honored with awards this college senior season and making 3 field goals in one game was a fun high light along with each kick I have every made. The memories are amazing and it took team work to achieve them all with a lot of practice so I have to say that the blessing have been great, the accomplishments are an honor to achieve but my fondest memories are the bonds of those practices especially with the specialist that I have shared a friendship as well as my teammates at LR.

If you have something you feel coaches, scouts, general managers or the

public in general should know about you, feel free to add it.

In contrary to what the kicker image is sometimes in the public eye regarding not being able to tackle. I am a decent tackler if need be. The NCAA stat book of my career has me at 9 solo tackles and 1 assist. I will find a way to stop a re-turner the best I can or slow them down and or direct them to my teammates. However with that being said, when given the chance to send it to end zone I will and as long as my kicking keeps growing at the rate it is then there will be no need to worry about tackles or returns. I too want them to know that it took my parents support, my sisters cheering along with my whole family to be apart of my journey. I thank my coaches through the years, family and friends that have prayed for me and supported me to become the kicker I am today and look forward to what I will become in the future as I strive to be a professional athlete.
