2023 National Scouting Combine Featured Athlete Lowell Patron JR, WR from Wheeling University

How’d you end up at your current school? What was the recruiting process like? I transferred to Wheeling in 2021 from Bluefield University. The process was tough because many schools didn’t want to take a chance on me but, the staff at Wheeling welcomed me with open arms

What gives you an advantage over other athletes at(Wide Receiver)? I have size that can’t be taught and along with my size I have great speed that goes along with it. Also my catch radius is rare I feel as if it’s in the area I’m coming down with it.

What does being a student of a game mean to you? Being one step ahead of your opponent and that’s in everything film, practice weights, you name it. Also I have learned that film study goes a long way it helps you prepare and play faster on the field.

How does being a (Wide Receiver) reflect itself in your personal life? So much has to go right when you’re playing this position in order to be successful. In life it shows my patience and how to take advantage of every opportunity you get in life.

How would you describe your work ethic? I feel like I’m a hard worker that Mamba Mentality is truly something I live by it hangs on my wall and I see it every day.

What do you consider to be one of the more important things you learned from the coaching staff? Handling adversity in life things won’t always go your way and you can’t just sit back and complain about it. At some point you have to be a man and take adversity head on.

What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far? Not many people can say they’ve been and All Conference player in two different conferences and in two different levels of football. That’s something that means a lot to me because I know the work I put in when nobody is watching.

How did you hear about the National Scouting Combine? My coaches told me about it and I also saw promotions for it on social media.

Why did you choose the National Scouting Combine? I feel like it is a great opportunity for me to get in front of some scouts and produce. Also it gives a small school guy like me to make a name for myself.

What do you hope to show people at the combine? My speed and that I am a complete receiver. I can be a deep threat, play in the slot, and make the 50/50 catches.

What was your Major? I received my bachelors degree at Bluefield University(2020) in Sports Management with a minor in Communications. Here at Wheeling University I am currently going for my Masters in Business Administration.

Who is or has been the most influential person in your life? My dad he’s someone I’ve always looked up to because watching him I can get a true look on what hard work can really get you in life.

If not football, then what? Sports Media I love sports in general and I can see myself writing articles on games and players. As well as Marketing different athletes helping them grow their brand. Lastly podcasting is something that grabbed my attention and having my own platform to talk about sports will help me grow.

If you could make a positive impact on all of society what would it be and why? Helping the homeless going down to Miami for the Podyum Bowl really opened my eyes on how many people are actually homeless. Seeing them just sit there hurts me and if I could make one impact it would be to provide them with food and shelter.

What is something unique about you that people would find interesting? Through middle school and some of my early high school I was in the school drama club I enjoy theater and acting.

If you had the opportunity to play another sport professionally, what sport would you choose? Baseball that’s where the money is at and it’s not so taxing on your body like other sports so I can play it forever.

Are you involved in mentoring, a charity or do you “give back” or ”pay it forward” in your community? I am actually not involved but I would like to start sometime soon
