How’d you end up at your current school? What was the recruiting process like?

  • Howard Payne University-DIII was not my first choice, but after hearing what my high school told all the college recruiters, was very puzzling. I had no recruiting help for college even though several recruiters were seeking after me. I found out by one my HPU coaches that my high school coach told them they did not want “that kid”.  Still to this day, I have no earthly idea as to why they were told that.  I played with a chip on my shoulder because I wanted to show them this overlooked athlete will prevail.  One thing I learned is it’s lonely at the top. Everyone is not for me.  We all want to go to the next level, and in my case, I know I have what it takes and am ready to perform in front of every scout at this event.  I promise I will not let anyone down.  I saw over time that it was not what I know, but who I know.  All I needed was support and I would have done the rest.

What gives you an advantage over other athletes at running back?

  • I have more heart and soul to give because my difficult journey. I WILL give 1,000% of my all daily to any organization that will just give me that one opportunity.  I work out every morning and evening with my trainer.  I know personally of two NFL RB coaches that know my abilities but cannot just say ‘come to this event.  It doesn’t work like that.   The 99.9% professional football players selected for a team or practice squad attended DI schools, their parents/relative/some knows someone that knows someone helped them.  I know God will make a way for me.

What does being a student of a game mean to you?

  • An athlete that studies film before games, analyze plays, visualize everything that could be done for each play. I pray before and after each game asking God to keep me safe from all hurt, harm and danger and put on my headphones and listen to music when warming up.  Once I see my biggest supporters (my parents), everything gets zoned out until game time.

How does being a running back reflect itself in your personal life?

  • I have goals set for me. I tell myself daily that if I want it, I cannot give up.  No matter what it is (education, career, football making a team, etc.).

How would you describe your work ethic?

  • This is my daily schedule and if I can do all of this, I know I have what it takes to follow my destiny. I went work every day all while taking my last year of college courses and worked out as well.  My mornings are Speed & Agility training and evenings are Strength & Conditioning – Monday thru Friday; Saturdays are my Running Back camp; Sundays are my Treatment days and Cyro/massage treatments as needed.

What do you consider to be one of the more important things you learned from the coaching staff?

  • The most important thing that I have learned from coaching staff is “Trust the Process”, work hard, believe in yourself and your abilities and you can be successful.

What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far?

  • One of my biggest accomplishments so far is that I was able to play professional arena football. These past couple of years have been tough due to the pandemic.  I would say that my biggest accomplishment would be that I never gave up on myself, even when it looked like it was going to end.   I still have a chance to play at the next level.

How did you hear about the National Scouting Combine?

  • I saw how professional NSC put on combines and was afforded the opportunity to attend one.

Why did you choose the National Scouting Combine?

  • NSC is very professionally set up, well-known and very well organized.

What do you hope to show people at the combine?

  • It is my prayer that the scouts/coaches allow me an opportunity to move up and on. When they do, I PROMISE, what they see they will be impressed by this DIII athlete.

What was your Major?

  • Kinesiology, I have faith and I will keep speaking positivity towards my future.

Who is or has been the most influential person in your life?

  • My cousin Travis Dickerson. He was my role model and is the reason I continued playing football to this day.  He had so many college offers and I knew I wanted to be just like him.  Unfortunately, he was killed in an auto accident.  It was just a freak accident the summer of his senior year.  His mom had called him to come home so he could go and take his high school senior pictures.  That was the last time she ever talked to him.  He attended Allen High School in Allen, TX.  The high school even retired his jersey (#92) and mounted plexiglass over his football locker.  He was awesome student/athlete and I still miss him.  I want this for us.

If not football, then what?

  • I bleed football while I am still able. Yes, I know it’s tough, but I will not give up football, I’m also have an interest in becoming a high school or college coach or scout.

If you could make a positive impact on all of society what would it be and why?

  • I contribute and am working on towards a non-profit foundation for those overlooked athletes. I will share my story with them letting them know that even though all the big DI and DII schools were interested, it may not happen.  I played in the several All-American Games before attending college. I was selected to play in the Senior Bowl, HBCU Bowl, Hawaiian Bowl, FCS/FBS Bowl and Tropical Bowl games. I opted out my senior year during the second year of the pandemic, because I didn’t know what was going to happen.  When I did that all the bowl games cancelled, except the Tropical and I played in that and performed extremely well.

What is something unique about you that people would find interesting?

  • I think the coolest moment was when the gentleman that worked at ESPN came and personally presented me with an award and I had no clue for having over 200 yards rushing in just one game. Not only am I an awesome football player, but I was also a beast on the soccer and baseball field.  I chose football overall because of my size, speed, strength, vision, agility, character, and determination to fulfill my dream.

If you had the opportunity to play another sport professionally, what sport would you choose?

  • I was an excellent athlete in baseball, basketball, soccer and just recently went to training for the US Olympic Bobsled team. I know I would need to train and prepare myself, but I think I still have it at baseball and Bobsledding.  I chose football, because of a personal reason.

Are you involved in mentoring, a charity or do you “give back” or ”pay it forward” in your community?

  • I am a firm believer in “volunteering” and “paying it forward”. Every year I volunteer to have feed children that may not be with family and I served as a mentor for several years, encouraging young men to strive to do and be better. It gives me a sense of worth to be able to pay to get a stranger a meal or pay for their items when they don’t have enough money to do so.  I don’t want to be put on a pedestal at all.
