Nahsir Morgan Sr., a wide receiver from Delaware Valley University, is heading to the professional level after a strong collegiate career and becoming a father. The senior, who stands at six feet five inches and weighs 210 pounds, has recently been named to the D3Football All-Region 1 Third-Team and All-MAC First-Team Offense.
When asked about aspects of his game that Morgan believes make him stand out as a 2025 NFL Draft prospect to watch, the receiver said, “My versatility, my football IQ, and my work effort stand out for the 2025 NFL Draft.”
Morgan believes his maturity is something that stands out in certain situations. He is now a father and looks at things a lot differently. “I go about it as if I don’t complete my mission and my family won’t be. So, it just puts everything into a better perspective for a more go-get-it perspective,” Morgan said.
A few things Morgan can take away from his time at Delaware Valley are being resilient, flexible, and disciplined in managing academics and sports. “The coaches, they were top notch… They made sure things were done on the football field, school, and outside of school. So that made it a lot easier for me to just transition to everything,” Morgan stated.
In 2020 and 2021, the coronavirus pandemic significantly impacted recruitment, limiting collegiate athletes’ access to play and practice. Morgan saw the most significant challenge with COVID-19 to be the inability to play the sport.
“I guess we got comfortable being home and being online. When we got the chance to come back and be around the guys, it was just kind of like starting from square one.”
Professional teams should know that Morgan is a hands-on learner who is willing to do anything to help. He strives to help the youth and runs a nonprofit organization where kids can play basketball in his city.
Morgan also started a clothing line on the side. He can see himself managing both the nonprofit and clothing line even while playing professional football. Morgan played AAU basketball when he was younger and is now the youngest coach.
“So I definitely take pride in that, and my kids loved it. We won a lot. Everyone in the community was a helping hand. So, any advice that I needed or any extra pointers that I needed, they were always willing to give me a hand or shoot me a text,” Morgan stated about the community he participates in.
When asked if being a coach helps with any aspect of being coached himself, Morgan said the following: “So my first few years there, I pretty much didn’t know which way to turn, and I didn’t know who to talk to, and who’s the right person or right people to be around. So, I did have a lot of trials and tribulations and bumps in the road. But once I got older and mature enough to see actually what was going on, and who was there for the right reasons, it kind of all played out.”
Regarding goals for the future, Morgan states settling into the NFL, being a dependable leader, and setting (a life up) for his family while being a great father. “I just want things to play out in everything that I prayed for and that I sacrificed. I just got to make it, put it into play.” Morgan aims to inspire others through his journey and continue to give back to his community.
A couple of hobbies that Morgan partakes in outside of football include fishing and traveling. “I love fishing. That’s probably my peace at hand. I love to travel. My passport has a lot of tattoos on it.”
As for traveling, Morgan has been to half of the states and about six to seven countries, including a few islands. “I do a lot of cruises. Before my grandmother passed, we were like huge on cruises. She had a timeshare and everything. So that was her thing. That’s what got me into it.”
Concerning football memories, Morgan states that what he has been able to create both at Delaware Valley and Virginia Union University is at the top of his list. “I tell the guys that I’ve met through my collegiate career that if I ever get married one day, they’ll definitely be a part. The friendships and the bonds that we built are just unbreakable. Since the first day I met the guys, it’s been like love.”
