Q: Tell us about your college career and what the recruiting/scouting process was like. Why did you choose (Enter school name)?

A: Coming out of high school I was not highly recruited I had a division 3 and a division 2 offer.  I really felt that I could play at the Division 1 level, so I did not commit to either of the two schools who had been recruiting me and offered.  SEMO had shown interest in me since my junior year of high school but never pulled the trigger. They were always honest with me from the beginning, on the Monday before signing day I received a call from SEMO, and they let me know they would like to offer me a PWO spot and that they would not have any scholarships for the upcoming season in 2016. I was a crushed, but it was still an opportunity to pay D1 and I considered it.  Later that week the SEMO staff called me back and after further evaluations and by the Grace of God they offered me a partial scholarship and I took my official visit that same weekend and committed. My career there was really something special, I redshirted my freshman year which was the best thing to happen for my development, I got a chance to learn from the older guys ahead of me.  I would go on after my redshirt year to working my way in to the 2-deep and  earn a full scholarship , earn 2 degrees a Bachelors and a Master’s degree while being a  5 year starter a 5 year team captain and earning honors of being on the ALL OVC  team (2nd team Spring 2021, Preseason, and 1st team Fall of 2021) and being awarded The Athletic Director’s Award in the Spring of 2021.   Getting to play at SEMO was the chance of a lifetime it helped mold me into the man I am today and will be the foundation of who I will be later in life as well.

Q: What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far?

A:  The biggest accomplishment in my sports career would be winning a conference championship at SEMO in 2019 after going 3-8 my first two years there we turned the program around going 9-4 in back-to-back seasons and we won the first FCS playoff game in school history in 2018.

Q: What do you consider to be one of the more important things you learned from the coaching staff while playing at (Enter school name)?

A:  The most important thing that I learned from the coaching staff while playing at SEMO was to always “Sign off” and that means to always give your best you can fool your teammates; you can fool your coaches, but you can’t fool yourself.

Q: What was your major and what are your plans if football doesn’t work out?

A: I received my bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication TV and Film, and I received my master’s degree in Higher Education Administration.  If football does not work out, I will not be too far from the game I plan on becoming a high school teacher and coach football, with aspirations of becoming an Athletic Director. In my spare time I do photography and videography.

Q: What would your current/past teammates say about you and your qualities?

A:  My current/ past teammate would say that I am a hard worker, I’m selfless and will do anything in my power to help on the field and off the field.  They will say you never have to worry about if I care or not, they will also say that even if football doesn’t work out he will still do great things for his friends, family, and community.

Q: What has been one of the most memorable plays of your career at any level?

A: The most memorable play of my career would be in 2019 we were in a close game with a good UT Martin team.  It had been raining the whole game and for a short spurt in the 4th quarter it stopped the game was tied and we needed to make a stop of defense UT Martin dropped back to pass the ball was tipped and I intercepted it and ran 32 yards for the game winning touchdown.

Q: What has been your biggest challenge and how do you manage it?

A: My biggest challenge I’ve had to face was dealing with mental health issues.  I have anxiety and ADHD and seasonal depression so there are times when day to day things can be difficult for me and before I was diagnosed, I couldn’t figure out why I felt the way I did and why certain things happened to me.  I managed it by seeking help and visiting with a therapist and finding coping mechanisms that worked for me. Every day is different and has its challenges when it comes to mental health, I know my circumstances do not define me and I won’t let it get in the way of doing things I know I am capable of.

Q: Who was the best player you played against during your collegiate career?

A: The best player I played against in my collegiate career is Sua Opeta.

Q: If you could compare yourself to a pro athlete, who would that be and why?

A:  If I could compare myself to a pro athlete it would be Darrius Leonard because we are similar in size and the way he plays the game is how I view myself. They call him the manic and that’s exactly how he plays being relentless and always around the football making plays. If you turn my film on you will always see me around the football and making plays.  As a defender you always want to run to the ball, and I pride myself on that.

Q: What is your biggest strength that you bring to a professional team and why should pro scouts consider you?

A:  The biggest strength I bring to a professional team is that I am very versatile you can play me at linebacker, or I can rush the passer as well as affect the game on special teams running down on kick off, blocking on kickoff return or in the punt box. Scouts should consider me because not only am I a hard worker I am a great teammate and always wanting to learn and grow and do what needs to be done to help the team reach our goals.  I stayed at the same University for 6 years in a time of the transfer portal and guys looking for the next best thing, I’d say loyalty runs deep with me and any organization that gives me a chance will see that.

Q: Are you involved in mentoring, a charity or do you “give back” or ”pay it forward” in your community?

A:  During my time at SEMO, I had the opportunity to mentor students at a school called Prodigy Leadership Academy where I was able to connect with students twice a week reading and talking about life, their dreams and goals. I also had many chances to speak to local high school students through Fellowship of Christian Athletes where I shared my testimony and able to provide insight on mental health to students.

Q: What do you enjoy doing when not playing football?

A:  I enjoy taking pictures and watching anime cartoons when I’m not playing football

Q: If you could make a positive impact on all of society what would it be and why?

A:  I would want to make sure people have a hot meal every day and somewhere comfortable to sleep. I believe the best way to connect with people is through food and fellowship. If I could provide people with a chance at a hot meal and somewhere to sleep I feel I would be helping someone in ways I could not imagine.

Q: Who is or has been the most influential person in your life?

A:  My mother has been the most influential person in my life. I’ve seen her work so hard to provide a goof life for me and my brothers. She works extremely hard every day and she always reminds me to always go after my dreams and she always supports me through everything.

Q: What is something unique about you that people would find interesting?

A:  I really enjoy cooking during quarantine I spent every day trying new dishes and I really fell in love with grilling

Q: If you had the opportunity to play another sport professionally, what sport would you choose?

A: I would play basketball I played growing up my whole life

Q: What is your dream job?

A: My dream job would be to an athletic director at a school where I was able to help build a dynasty, one that isn’t really known for winning and through my leadership and work of coaches and players turn that school in to a championship contender in all the sports we have.
