National Scouting Combine Partners with the (COC) Collegiate Officiating Consortium

September 2022 – National Scouting Combine has renewed the partnership with the Collegiate Officiating Consortium, which includes the Big Ten, Mid-American and Missouri Valley Conferences, to provide qualified officiating for the position drills, 1v1’s, 7v7’s and showcase game that draft eligible athletes will compete in. The National Scouting Combine will also set the stage for the 3-day Officials Training Clinic.

“We were fortunate to work with Bill Carollo from the BIG10 when we ran the showcase game in 2012 & 2013,” said Jimmy Kibble, CEO of the National Scouting Combine, “When my staff and I decided to bring back the 1v1, 7v7 competition and showcase game for draft eligible athletes, the first thing I did was reach out to Mr. Carollo. I am excited to work with him again, his organization and helping provide an awesome experience for athletes and officials reach the next level!”

Over the course of 5 days, the National Scouting Combine will invite female athletes and free agent athletes to participate in combine testing and position drills. Draft eligible athletes will receive the opportunity to compete in the collegiate showcase game as well. The COC will be conducting their annual clinic to train, educate and promote officials from around the country.

“The Collegiate Officiating Consortium strives to train its officials by providing educational and developmental opportunities like those presented at the National Scouting Combine,” said Bill Carollo, Coordinator of Officials for the Collegiate Officiating Consortium. “The on-field opportunities will serve to enhance our officiating clinic as we continually work to build the depth and diversity of Consortium officials.”

The National Scouting Combine, founded in 2010 by Jimmy Kibble, provides athletes with real opportunities to receive verified data they can use to improve, develop, and promote their athletic abilities to the “next level”. The National Scouting Combine sets itself apart from every other testing event. Participants are evaluated using a proprietary algorithm that delivers an Athletic Performance Profile (APP) comprised of a comprehensive report of all the athletic data, comparative analysis, and unique insights to overall body control.

The Collegiate Officiating Consortium was established in 2008-09 to help recruit, train, evaluate and promote college football officials. Officials from the Big Ten, Mid-American and Missouri Valley Conferences, the Pioneer League, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and five Division III leagues make up the COC. The consortium’s goal is to identify, recruit, train, develop, assign and evaluate game officials, who will benefit from developmental programming and assessment. The COC also promotes diversity and provides leadership training. Since 2016, it has offered annual regional officiating camps, the Midwest Diversity Development Clinic and the Referee Leadership Clinic. Also, a replay clinic was established in 2019.
