SUMMARY
Jordan Leverette is a WR who attended Baldwin Wallace University, where he was selected as a third-team All-North Region for D3football.com. Besides being a football standout, he also excelled in track and field, where he earned All-American honors and was named the Great Lakes Region Men’s Track Athlete of the Year. So, when you watch his film, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the first thing that you notice is the speed that he possesses. Not only is Jordan really fast, but he has that “2nd gear” that allows him to run away from defenders. This was very evident through all of the vertical based routes that he ran in college. Whether it was a deep post, “go”, or crossing routes, he had the ability to run past defenders, and then put even more distance between himself and them with his speed. He is always a threat to take “the top” off of the defense. With his route running, even with his great speed, he plays with really good body control and balance. Especially on the top of his routes that have him breaking back to the QB, he does a really good job of having a solid break, and then continues with his break and does a great job of coming back to the football, whether he’s doing this in an open zone, or with a defender on his back in man coverage. With the “go” routes that he ran, if it was a back shoulder throw, he does a really good job of not showing his hands right away, and is really deceptive and waits till the last second to incorporate his hands, which allows him to create that separation to catch the football. With many of these routes, he also showcased really good physicality and fight to catch contested balls, using his strong hands and body control to put himself in a good position against the CB. With his average height, he’s still able to go up and “high point” the football really good with his great vertical, and once again showcases strong hands to come down with the football. Even though he wasn’t pressed very often, when he was, he did a really good job of creating a lot of separation between himself and the CB, which allowed him to dictate where he was going with his route. I would’ve liked to see CBs be more physical with him, because it would’ve allowed me to see how he uses his hands to get off of the defender. Based off of how he did on the top of his routes with balls coming his way and being able to be really patient before using his hands to get off of the defender, I feel that he would do a decent job against a CB who is physical with him at the LOS. However, if the defender was close, he just used his speed to get around the CB, even though I would’ve liked to see him stack the CB faster. One thing that he didn’t really showcase the ability to do was routes like involved in/out type breaks. I question his ability to move laterally, because his pro agility time was slower than his 40, and for someone of his speed, you’d like to see his pro agility time be a lot faster. Even though he didn’t showcase many in/out type breaks, he does a really good job of having smooth/fluid breaks from his hitches/comeback type routes, where he did well to break down at the top of the route. He also showed to have a really good feel and understanding of where to find the void and where to sit against zone coverages, which he played against a lot in college, and he also showcased his fluidity with his breaks in his routes against zone. The one thing I wish he had more of was showcasing the fluidity of his breaks in his routes against man coverage. He showed a decent job of still maintaining the smoothness, but there just wasn’t enough film for me to be comfortable in saying that he will be successful against this type of coverage. As a runner, Jordan is surprisingly a very physical player, which goes along really well with his speed. He has elusiveness, but it’s not really the “twitchy” or lateral type elusiveness, as he showcases his elusiveness with his ability to make very quick and forceful cuts to get himself going upfield. I think Jordan could’ve been really successful if he would’ve been used in the WR screen game more, which would’ve allowed him to use his speed and ability to make solid cuts to get up field. He also is very successful when he’s able to be used in motion and as a part of the running game with runs that stretch the field horizontally, because he’s able to outrun defenders and gain the edge. Lastly, if all else fails, he is great in the return game. I think the return game is where he can find an opportunity to play right away. With his ability to set up defenders, have solid cuts, and have game changing speed, it allows him to be very successful. He is definitely a prospect that deserves attention at the next level professionally somewhere, because his speed, strong hands, and ability to be multi-dimensional with special teams provides him with an edge over his peers.

Pursuing a career in professional football from a small school is a lonely path. A prospect may have the support of his peers, family, and teammates, but the process can be overwhelming and very confusing. Often times small school prospects don’t have access to the resources provided to prospects at football powerhouses. “How can I get myself in front of scouts? How can I prove to them that I can play at the next level?” These are only a few of the many questions that race through a potential prospects mind on a daily basis. The Beyond Sports Network National Combine helped simplify this process for many of the players that attended, including myself. Despite the combine being held for a few days, the information and services provided by the combine, as well as the sense of community between the staff members and prospects stood out to me. Every test that would be performed at the NFL combine was covered, every coach and staff member supported each prospect to an unbelievable extent, and the amount of scouts and agents in attendance and how interactive they were was impressive. The Beyond Sports Network National Scouting Combine was a critical step in attempting to take my talents to the next level. If you are a small school prospect with no clear path to the next level, the National Scouting Combine will certainly clear up the path for you.

BSN gave me the platform I needed to be respected as a athlete. I came to there first Combine in 2010. I was pulled by every NFL, CFL scout. At that time there were a couple really good WRs including a SEC top WR who NFL scouts were coming to see. Once I put up good #s in my Testing Drills, we did one on ones. I showed my great covering skills to the point all the scouts herd the WRs talking and asking who was this guy. Then BSN promoted me and my numbers and I received workouts on all levels. I became a name in the business. Having legit numbers and respectable organization backing you is what you need. Everyone can say they can play and perform but coaches and scouts don’t believe you.
