Obic Seagulls Make History at the 2026 National Scouting Combine

With the 2026 National Scouting Combine just days away, the Obic Seagulls, 17-time X-League Champions from Japan, are set to make history in Naples, Florida.

This week, Defensive Lineman #99 Turota Sean Rei and Wide Receiver Mizoguchi Shunto will represent the Obic Seagulls at the National Scouting Combine, marking the first time Japanese players have participated in the event.

A Global Opportunity in Naples

The National Scouting Combine brings together football players from across the United States and around the world to compete in front of professional scouts, coaches, and league representatives. Athletes are evaluated through on-field drills and testing, with opportunities to earn professional attention at the next level.

“The National Scouting Combine has grown into a truly international evaluation platform,” said Jimmy Kibble, Founder and CEO of the National Scouting Combine. “The Obic Seagulls are a world-class organization with a long history of excellence, and having their athletes here reflects both the global growth of the game and the continued evolution of the Combine.”

Championship Program, Ready for the Moment

The Obic Seagulls are one of the most successful American football organizations outside the United States, and their participation reflects years of strong development and preparation. Their players arrive in Naples ready to compete and showcase their skills on a global stage.

“These players earned their spot here,” said Jay Wilson, Director of Player Personnel for the National Scouting Combine. “They’re well-coached, disciplined, and prepared for this opportunity.”

Team staff members Kevin Jackson (Strengthening Department, based in Los Angeles) and Kazuya Hayashi (Operations Manager and Trainer) will accompany the players to the National Scouting Combine, providing support throughout the event.

Players Focused on the Opportunity

For the athletes, the Combine represents a chance to compete, learn, and take the next step in their football journey.

“I think the National Scouting Combine is a great opportunity to show my abilities to American scouts,” said Turota Sean Rei. “I’m grateful to be here and will do my best to make a strong impression.”

“I am extremely honored to participate in the National Scouting Combine,” added Mizoguchi Shunto. “I want to show my strengths on the field and make the most of this opportunity.”

A Meaningful Moment as the Combine Begins

As the 2026 National Scouting Combine gets underway in Naples, the presence of the Obic Seagulls highlights the continued growth of football worldwide.

“This is an exciting moment for everyone involved,” said Jesse Heninger, Chief Marketing Officer of the National Scouting Combine. “Seeing a program like the Obic Seagulls represented in Naples shows how global football has become and how the Combine continues to grow alongside it.”

With the Combine beginning this week, all eyes will be on Naples as two athletes from one of the world’s most respected football programs take the field and make history.
