40 Yard Dash

The 40-yard dash shows how fast and explosive an athlete is. Coaches and scouts use it to see how quickly you can move, especially at the start of a play.

SPEED

The 40-yard dash measures an athlete’s ability to accelerate over a short distance. The first 10 yards are usually where the athlete’s acceleration is most important, as it shows how quickly they can reach top speed from a standing or starting position. A quick first step can be crucial for getting past defenders, gaining separation, or reaching a play faster.

Pro Agility Drill

The Pro Agility drill measures how quickly an athlete can change direction. It shows your ability to move side to side with speed and control, which is important in almost every sport.

AGILITY

The Pro Agility Drill (also known as the 3-cone drill or 5-10-5 drill) is designed to test an athlete's agility, change-of-direction speed, and overall quickness. Unlike the 40-yard dash, which focuses on straight-line speed, the Pro Agility drill emphasizes how quickly an athlete can accelerate, decelerate, and change direction under control.

3-Cone Drill

The 3-Cone Drill tests your quickness, balance, and ability to change direction at high speed. It shows how well you can move in tight spaces—important for both offense and defense.

QUICKNESS

The 3-cone drill (also known as the L-drill) is a key test of agility, change of direction, and body control. It involves running through three cones arranged in an "L" shape, requiring the athlete to sprint forward, backpedal, and make sharp turns—all while maintaining speed and balance.

Vertical Jump

The Vertical Jump measures lower-body power and explosiveness. It shows how high you can jump, which is key for sprinting, tackling, jumping, and overall athletic ability.

POWER

The vertical jump is a key measure of an athlete’s lower-body power, explosiveness, and ability to generate force quickly. While the primary focus of the vertical jump is on vertical displacement (how high the athlete can jump), it shows how an athlete produces maximum effort in a short time window.

Broad Jump

The Broad Jump measures lower-body strength and explosiveness. It shows how powerful you are when jumping forward, which translates to speed, balance, and overall athletic power.

EXPLOSIVE

Broad Jump shows the more explosive you are, the more force you can generate quickly, and the farther you can jump. It’s a key trait that reflects an athlete’s lower-body power, neuromuscular efficiency, and athletic potential, making it essential for combine performance and on-field success.

Bench Press

The Bench Press measures upper-body strength and endurance. It shows how powerful and physically prepared you are for contact and strength-based movements in your sport.

STRENGTH

To excel in the combine bench press test, athletes need high levels of both maximal strength and explosive power. Training programs often include both heavy lifts (for strength) and dynamic/ballistic reps (for power) to optimize performance.
